Billy Bourbon Trio
Billy Bourbon is a singin’, songwritin’, country bluesman, son-of-a-@#$%. His songs are laced with women, whiskey and weed. Songs about birthdays and death; first loves and shooting your lover dead; suicide and raising kids; Billy covers it all. This is rockin’ Texas outlaw country at its best.
If you like Jerry Jeff Walker, Commander Cody, Guy Clark, John Prine, Jason Boland, Cross Canadian Ragweed, you'll dig Billy Bourbon.
Billy knows countless songs, and crafts his shows to suit the audience at hand, whether it’s rowdy college kids or their equally rowdy elders. As a lead guitarist he has shared the stage with Chris Duarte, Son Seals, Mason Ruffner, Jimmy Thackery, Smokin’ Joe Kubek, Rockin’ Jake, Tinsley Ellis, Papa Chubby, Dave Hole, Bernard Ellison, and countless others, while hosting a weekly Jam Night in a club he later came to own. As Billy puts it, “I jam, therefore I am”.
The current Billy Bourbon Band features veteran Texas musician Tom Rodgers on Bass, and Greg Babineaux on the Drums. Together they have a show that is funny, entertaining, and sells drinks!!!
It smells like country, tastes like rock-n-roll, and has creamy blues in the middle. Come and getcha some!!!!

Ben
Morris & The Great American Box Car Chorus
I have always tried to live my life with
a whole lot of heart and plenty of soul.
Hailing from the uncomfortably humid boundaries
of East Texas, by way of four widely spaced dots
on the Texas map, Ben Morris & The Great American
Boxcar Chorus is a driving force that is pushing
full steam |
|
ahead.
Based in College Station, the four members that
make up this gifted group are about as different
as they are similar, yet they share one common
trait that endears them to many: their heart,
which is not set on just playing music, but on
changing lives along the way.
The Boxcar Chorus
(I love that name) is lead by singer, songwriter,
guitarist Ben Morris, who
found his musical debut in a duo out of Texas
A&M University called Jeff and Ben (JAB).
Other members of the band are Coby Tate
flying across the frets as lead guitarist, Jon
Dittfurth pulls double duty as bassist and harmony
vocalist and Bucky Bachmeyer provides the rhythmic
backbone of the band as the drummer.
The band was presented with the award for 'Live Band of the Year' a tthe 2009 Texas Music Awards.
If yall dont love this band
something is wrong with your genetics.
~ Mark David Manders
With all this young, fresh talent and energy,
this night will be a lot of fun!! I am looking
forward to this show, hope you can join us!

George
Ensle & Greg
Whitfield
George Ensle, (pronounced
Enslee), began songwriting and performing as
a teenager in the late sixties in his hometown,
Houston at such venerable clubs as the Sand
Mountain Coffeehouse and the original Old Quarter,
sharing stages with legendary folk greats, Townes
Van Zandt, Guy Clark, and Jerry Jeff Walker.
While touring the club, college coffeehouse
and festival circuit, he was awarded a prestigious
Federal Government Grant to be an Artist-In-Schools,
teaching songwriting and the creative process
to elementary schoolchildren. George has wonsongwriting
awards from The American Song Festival, the
Kerrville Folk Festival, the Music Umbrella,
and the Austin Songwriters Group, and has released
five albums in the U.S. and Europe. In 2008
he was nominated for Singer/Songwriter of the
Year by the Texas Music Academy. |
|
George has a unique fingerpicking
style originating from his classical guitar training
and honed over the years to flow seamlessly with
his lyrics. He has been called a "songpainter,"
capturing "lifescapes", with storysong
portraits of "real people making it in the
real world."
Greg Whitfield is an veteran
studio musician from Austin, TX as well as a sought-after
live performer. He has shared the stage as a guitarist
with Gary P. Nunn, Steve Fromholtz, Kevin Fowler,
Pauline Reese, and Ray Price, and has recorded
extensively in both Dallas and Austin. Whitfield
is also a two-time winner of the Austin Songwriting
competition.

Eric Hisaw
Eric always knew that he wanted to be a musician, but found earning a living at his chosen avocation a matter easier said than done. Over the dozen or so years since arriving in Texas Hisaw has slowly assembled the pieces of the livelihood mosaic, and now finds himself an in-demand producer, session musician and sideman in addition to the 150 + solo and Eric Hisaw Band shows hell play this year. In addition to being a top-flight singer/songwriter he slings a mean Telecaster.
In even a brief conversation one is struck by the extraordinary passion and knowledge Hisaw has for/of music of all genres, be it country, blues, Cajun, folk, conjunto or rock. You get the idea that he's always on the hunt to further incorporate the nuance of these styles into his own work, having successfully done so without sounding kitschy.
Austin has provided him with the idyllic location to absorb this wide variety of influences, as well as offering him the opportunity to meet, befriend and play with artists he has long admired.

White Beets
Mark Beets and Saylor White, two of the Houston area's most esteemed singer
songwriters, have joined forces to become the
White Beets. To their honor thus far, the duo
was a winner at the Songwriters Serenade in 2009;
individually Beets and White have each released
award winning CDs, plus both have penned songs
recorded by other artists.
East Texas born writer of
songs, poetry and short stories, Saylor White has written over two thousand songs in his better
than thirty years of word crafting, including
"Dress of Lace" recorded and performed
by Nanci Griffith and Lyle Lovett. Saylor is an
amazing and prolific songwriter with a musical
sense that comes as natural to him as breathing.
He is co-owner of A
Songwriters Studio in Houston, Texas.
Mark Beets has a sound which has been called "Organic
Americana". It's fresh, different from most
of the stuff out there today. In 2003 Long
Ago & Many Days, Mark's debut
collection of songs, was produced by White Cat
Productions and Beets was a finalist in the Wildflower
Festival songwriting competition. Mark's song
"The Road's Not Long Enough" was selected as the
lead single on The Houston Association of Acoustic
Musicians' first compilation CD. |

Petesimple & Lee Alexander
Details on Petesimple coming soon.
Drawing from an influential palette of Harry Nilsson, Patty Griffin, Elvis Costello, and Steve Earle, Lee Alexander’s catchy melodies and razor sharp lyrics have placed him as a finalist in the John Lennon Songwriting Contest, the Bugle Boy Songwriting Competition, The Songwriters Serenade Competition, The Independent Music Awards, a regional finalist in the Mountain Stage Newsong Folk Festival, and a semifinalist in the UK Songwriting Contest. The multi-talented, multi-instrumentalist Alexander has also been a featured artist in Performing Songwriter Magazine, the 2007 Mardi Gras Festival, the 2006 Summer NAMM Showcase, the 2006, 2007, 2008, and 2009 Houston Press Music Awards, the 2006 Houston Fair Compilation, and the 2006 Houston International Music Conference and Festival. |
|
Lee has just released his second CD Mayhaw Vaudeville. This quasi-conceptual album follows up his critically acclaimed debut recording in 2006 of Out of Place. Like previous works, the new album contains the same lyrical depth and poignant wit, saturated with storytelling and a distinctively rustic Texas flavor, while skillfully skirted with contemporary folk pieces as well.
