Patti Guyer
Book Signing & Release Party
Patti Guyer started writing almost as soon as she started reading, writing a play for the neighborhood children to perform in the backyard at the age of five. Patti's brand new literary release, Skipping Stones, is a collection of poetry written from the heart. The book documents her journey from childhood to adulthood with poetry written at times for pleasure and at other times for survival. Skipping Stones will seamlessly slide you from joy to sadness to anger to elation and every emotion in between.
After growing up in a very small Texas town, Patti currently enjoys living in Houston with her two cats, Gracie and PITA. Her biggest joys in life are her two daughters and two grandsons. She enjoys writing poetry, fiction, lyrics, painting, drawing, and is a singer/songwriter.
There will be a mix of music and poetry throughout the night. Special guests are Lisa Loftin, Mo Eden, Glynace Eastham, Gary Seber,
Chelsea Miller,
Kenyon Saylor White,
Pat Bishop,
Peggy Neff, Will Herrin,
Willie B, Amber Cranfill,
Allison Bentley,
Mike Darnell,
Otis Futhermucker,
Beverly Shirkey,
Chris Stiteler, The Hanshaws,
Larry Englebretson and Margie Smith. We are honored that Patti has asked JP Hops House to host her book signing and release party.

NIGHT LONG! A fan's dream come true! All
musicians interested
in performing add your name to the list of "Prine"
players as soon as you arrive. The
evening's open mic format will allow a greater number
and variety of artists to take part. There
is one restriction: you must play John Prine
songs only.
A scrumtuous birthday cake, colorful balloons and
a birthday card to relay everyone's wishes (we'll

12, 2007 - Friday
Texas Songwriter Showcase
Some of the best singer songwriters from around
the state of Texas grace the JPHH stage on the
second Friday of each month.
The
featured artists for this evening's showcase are
Mike Darnell and Bill Aspinwall.
Mike Darnell:
Local Houston singer/songwriter, Mike describes his music as “the flues”, an amalgamation of folk and blues. A native Texan, his compositions include historical ballads that capture snapshots of Texas and American history. His song “The Liberty Tree” was selected to be included on Songs from the Stack, a HAAM compilation CD. Mike performs solo and with the infamous Big Lizard Boys. He is currently working on his third CD release, tentatively titled No Mango is an Island.
Bill Aspinwall: A member of the semi-notorious Big Lizard Boys, Bill writes songs that span numerous genres. He is a proud member of the HAAM and the Houston/Ft. Bend Songwriters Association. He was awarded the HFBSA Songwriter of the Year and Song of the Year for 2005. That same year The Big Lizard Boys released their debut CD, Pick Yourself Up, recorded at White Cat Studios and produced in association with Jack Saunders.
Willie
B: Willie describes himself as a bluesy guitar
player, but he is so much more. He is a gifted
and diverse guitar player who writes and performs
in many musical genres. Willie writes and sings
songs around the people in his life. He has been
a past recipient of HFBSA's "Song
of the Year" and "Songwriter of the
Year". Willie has recorded four albums to
date and is currently working on his fifth solo
project.
The Texas
Songwriters' Showcase is
the
longest running
showcase in Houston. These songwriters will take
to the stage to entertain you with colossal musical
talent and
wide-ranging
experience ... you
will not be disappointed.

The Hudsons are quite possibly the hardest-working folk group in Austin. Brian Hudson and Hudson Mueller have been playing together in some fashion for over six years now. Over the years the duo have accomplished great things. The Hudsons have won multiple awards, including Best Folk Band from the Austin Music Awards. They've toured all over the U.S. and Canada, producing three albums, three bumper stickers, two t-shirts and a koozie. They've even created a whole new business model for small-time bands--playing out so often that your career imitates a regular job. And most impressively of all, they've garnered a diverse and loyal following in Central Texas.

Matt Harlan, Glynace, Dodd Eastham
Matt
Harlan is a songwriter's songwriter, composing scenic
landscapes and pointed statements disguised as
songs ... often non-linear, but always melodic.
Matt took First Place in the 2006 American Songwriter
Lyric Contest for his song "Waiting For Godot."
His debut CD, Live and Rambling, will be available at the show.
Glynace writes in a number of genres, basically folk and childrens’, and her lyrics come straight from the heart. Her love of music is as contagious as her "homespun" tunes; and originals like "Louisiana Rain" and "Mama Pearl" can leave you slapping your knee and singing the choruses long after she leaves the stage.
Dodd Eastham is a dynamic acoustic player, an impressive finger-picker and is JP Hops House best kept secret. Being an avid history buff, many of Dodd's musical interpretations of cover songs reflect his love of bygone times. He possesses a rich,
deep singing voice which makes you feel ... good.
