Connie
Mims & Mark
Beets
Connie
began her musical career in Houston in 1973 as
a part of the group Wheatfield which evolved into
St. Elmo's Fire, performing everywhere from the
Armadillo World Headquarters in Austin, to The
Troubadour in Los Angeles, to St. Croix, USVI.
She has appeared on the PBS series Austin City
Limits and in the classic Blue Bell Ice Cream
commercial known as Texas Musicians. Most
recently Connie, along with other members of Wheatfield,
has released a new self-titled CD.
In
addition to performing her own compositions, Connie
enjoys performing music from Bonnie Raitt, Radney
Foster, Kim Richey, Joni Mitchell and other well-known
and not so well-known songwriters.
 |
Mark
has a sound which has been called "Organic
Americana". According to Ken Gaines, fellow
musician, "Mark's music will sneak up on
you. One minute you're listening politely and
the next minute you're either laughing or crying
your eyes out." It's fresh, different from
most of the stuff out there today. Long
Ago & Many Days is Mark's debut collection
of songs produced by White Cat Productions.

Texas Songwriters' Showcase
Some of the best singer songwriters from around
the state of Texas grace the JPHH stage on the
second Friday of each month.
Unfortunately, Chris Chandler and David Roe who
were originally scheduled had to cancel, but we
are extremely pleased to announce that Stan
Hatch & Paul McCann
will be the featured artists for this evening's
showcase.
Stan and Paul: This duo first came to us
at an open mic and had instant fans! Since then,
they have been a feature music act at Mudbug Madness
2005 and Spudstock IV. Stan and Paul showcase
their talent and personalities through the humorous
songs their write, such as "The National
Bank of Dad". In addition to their songwriting,
Paul is an amazing magician and usually works
in a little abracadabra during the night. They
tickle my funny bone and will do the same for
you!
Willie
B: Willie describes himself as a bluesy guitar
player, but he is so much more. He is a gifted
and diverse guitar player who writes and performs
in many musical genres. Willie writes and sings
songs around the people in his life. He has won
"Song of the Year" and "Songwriter
of the Year" in HFBSA. Willie has recorded
four albums to date.
Jen
Rathbun: A
Platinum Plus Universal recording artist with
2 CDs to her credit, Jen sings and writes multi-faceted
compositions loaded with personality. She's a
pro at tickling the ivories, and she'll tickle
your fancy as well.
The
Texas
Songwriters' Showcase
always fills the stage with vast musical experience,
guaranteeing that the show will be an exhilarating
musical phenomenon! Come experience the phenom!
