Klonaris
Michael
Marcoullier is no stranger to the Houston music scene
from back in the day when Michael, John Vandiver,
Shake Russell and Dana Cooper ruled Texas music stages.
Tonight he is teamed with guitarist Anthony Klonaris.
Anthony's extremely diverse musical background includes
everything from classical to rock to country and jazz.
Good things are worth waiting for and the return of

Juneau
CD Release Party
This original acoustic trio of siblings, Anthony,
Patrick and Laurie Juneau, have
been playing music together since they were
children. Tonight they celebrate the release
of CD number two. Formed
in 1995, the band started playing in and around
Austin at dance halls, bars, and coffee shops.
While the siblings are the band's core, a complement
of other musicians is added at times, depending
on the venue. Tonight Juneau's always talented
complement is comprised of Jack Saunders and
Rick Poss. Join us for music and more ... it'll
be a BLAST!

Texas Songwriter Showcase
Some of the best singer songwriters from around
the state of Texas grace the JPHH stage on the
second Friday of each month.
Thus
far, the featured artist for this evening's showcase
is Ken
Gaines & Gary
Seber.
Ken
Gaines: A
singer songwriter with a beautifully clear voice
and articulate guitar accompaniment, Ken has played
and studied a lot of music, but its obvious
that hes also studied himself and his craft
and
is committed to finding whats original and
at the same time, universal in his experiences.
~ Max Biedenharn, Mississippi
Coast Magazine
Gary
Seber: When you first hear Gary play, you
may find it impossible to believe that you're
hearing just one musician! He has studied the
"acoustic
percussive fingerstyle"
of Preston Reed with it's two-handed fretboard
attack. Gary's debut CD, entitled Candle Power,
features
the highly innovative but little-known technique
of playing the neck of an open-tuned guitar, coaxing
an amazing abundance of sound from the solo instrument.
Jeff
Hoofard: Jeff
has been playing drums for local and national
acts since 1986 sharing the stage with such icons
as Bo Diddley and Chubby Checker as well as some
of Texas best acoustic artists. He has been
the percussionist of choice on several recording
projects and is currently playing with Willie
B & The Silverbacks. Jeff
is our "house" percussionist.
Michael
Pope: Co-founder and co-host of this showcase,
Michael has been writing songs for a couple years
now. Many of his original's are open tuned, 5
finger picking, folk jazz instrumentals, but his
lyrics are strong and reflect his life's experiences.
Michael recently released his debut album.
Willie
B: Willie describes himself as a bluesy guitar
player, but he is so much more. He is a gifted
and diverse guitar player who writes and performs
in many musical genres. Willie writes and sings
songs around the people in his life. He has won
"Song of the Year" and "Songwriter
of the Year" in HFBSA. Willie has recorded
four albums to date.
The
Texas
Songwriters' Showcase
always fills the stage with vast musical experience,
guaranteeing that the show will be an exhilarating
musical phenomenon! Come experience the phenom!

Big
Lizard Boys together with Stan
& Paul
Sharing a night of music, magic and merriment,
Big Lizard Boys has paired up with Stan and Paul.
This combination has it all - great pickers, great
songs, comedy and magic.
Comprised
of band members Bill Aspinwall, Mike Crippen and
Mike Darnell, Big Lizard Boys incorporate
guitar, banjo, mandolin, bass and harmonica into
an eccentric blend of folk, rock
and
blues. Influences
include a whole lotta bands (even a few musicians)
(and all their splintered offspring), John Faheys
dog, and a whole lotta the classic and contemporary
blues masters. Playing predominantly original
material, they add a few traditional and classic
tunes to their set list and on occasion will bring
out the infamous Cachaça Rhythm Section
for some home brew, front porch, foot-stomping
music with a Texas flavor.
Big
Lizard Boys
has invited Terry Rogers to take part in the fray
as their "special guest" this evening.
Terry will join the band towards the end of the
first set and will be featured on harmonica and
vocals on several songs. Terry is a harmonica
player extraordinaire and plays Chicago style
blues.

Stan
and Paul are award-winning accoustic musicians
who perform original music in and around Houston,
Texas. Their songs generally focus on the fun
and entertaining side of life. They have been
described as wonderfully witty and
frickin funny, and are often
compared to The Smothers Brothers (quite a compliment).
This
duo first came to us at an open mic and had instant
fans! Since then, they have been a feature music
act at Mudbug Madness I & II and at Spudstock
IV. Stan and Paul chose JPHH to celebrate the
release of their debut CD, The National
Bank of Dad,
this past April. In addition to their songwriting,
Paul is an amazing magician and usually works
in a little abracadabra during the night. They
tickle my funny bone and will do the same for
you!
Stan
and Paul will play the opening set starting at
9:00. Then the Big Lizard Boys will join them
for a couple of numbers and one awesome magic
effect by Paul. He is going to levitate Mike
Darnell of BLB.
This
show should not be missed for any reason!!!

SORRY,
THIS SHOW WILL BE RESCHEDULED
The
Fowler Brothers graciously stepped up to fill
in for Sugar Bayou.
November 18, 2006 - Saturday
Sugar
Bayou
Sugar
Bayou write and play eclectic acoustic music -
joyful and complex, with ethereal vocals and instruments
infused with folk, swingy bluesy jazz, Celtic,
bluegrass, Cajun & South American traditions,
plus a touch of Texas rockin country. Hard
to describe, amazing to listen to.

Bob
Oldreive: Bob has a musical pedigree the size
of the Big Bend, and glorious voice to match. He
plays amazing and lush guitar, and writes exquisite
songs that are destined to live forever. In 1973,
Bob and Joe Lindley formed Houstons seminal
country rock band, Dogtooth Violet. Their high energy
shows garnered both critical acclaim and a loyal
following, and their record is a highly coveted
collectors item. They opened for greats such
as Willie Nelson, Merle Haggard and Waylon Jennings,
and would regularly pack the Texas Opry House, Liberty
Hall, Miller Outdoor Theater, the Sweetheart
of Texas and Rockefellers (to name a few).
April
Rapier: April sang demos in Nashville and elsewhere
for ten years, writing and performing in the US,
Mexico, Central America and Europe. She plays guitar,
mandolin, piano and spoons, and annoys her cats
and dog with incessant banjo and accordion practice.
She was a photographer and artist, her work residing
in major museum, private and corporate collections
here and abroad. She is completing her first novel,
and would be finished by now if she could figure
out what to call it.
 |
Paul
Kiteck: Born and raised in Kentucky bluegrass
country, Paul is an experienced fiddler, having
performed with groups from Colorado to North Carolina.
He was a member of Houston's Lonestar Bluegrass
Band for ten years, starting in 1988. He has several
recording sessions to his credit, including Flying
Fish Records, Lonestar Records, Don Sanders and
Leeway (and soon to begin work on Sugar Bayous
second CD). When he isn't playing music, Paul is
an acoustic engineer in Houston, traveling all over
the country for work. He also moonlights as a top-notch,
highly sought-after sound engineer for festivals
and events around Texas.
 |
Robert
Knetsch: Robert has performed and recorded with
numerous musical artists and ensembles, representing
a wide range of musical styles including jazz, classical,
country, folk, rock and world music. In addition
to bass/bass guitar he also plays drums/percussion,
guitar and clarinet. Robert works from time to time
as a CPA and lives in Houston with his dog Pearl.
Bill
Browder: Bill began playing professionally with
the Four Dudes, a Houstonarea Temptations
knock-off band in 1969. He joined Denim in the summer
of 1970, and they were signed by two major labels
in the mid to late 70s. After Denim disbanded
in 1980, he played with The Austin AllStars
and Duck Soup. Denim reformed in 1990, and is still
recording and performing today. Other acts that
Bill plays with are The Big Time, The Heroes, and
Sugar Bayou. At the age of 4, Bill took a nap in
Jayne Mansfields' bed.
Currently
Bob and April are writing and the band is hard at
work on their second, as-yet unnamed CD (April likes
the sound of Whatever She Wants),
which follows the incredible success of
their first release, Nowhere But Gone,
which was recorded at SugarHill Studios, produced
by Robbie Parrish, co-produced by Bob and April.

Rose and
the British Invasion
As a prolific songwriter, Kat Rose paints a

of which are based on true life. Kat Rose is
warm, open-hearted and honest with a sound that
lies somewhere between folk, soul and gospel.
Her performances convey her passion for live
music.
Join
Kat and fellow musicians, Paul Cocking and Jill
Wright who have just newly arrived from Birmingham,
England with a mandocello, Irish flutes and penny
whistles in tow, the resident Brit Tony Rose on
