Mark
Zeus
and
Annie
Benjamin
Tonight
we welcome musical performers Mark Zeus and
Ray Younkin.
Mark is the omnipresent great god of folk/rock
and honky-tonk, a veteran songwriter, live performer
and recording artist whose music features an
eclectic mix of folk, country, rock and blues
often intertwined with various ethnic and indigenous
rhythms.
Annie is a veteran of the live music scene in
Texas with over two decades of performances
to her credit. She is known for her high energy
flute licks, her multi-register vocal ability,
and a very unique picking style on her guitar.
Her lyrics can be irreverant and silly one minute,
poignantly homespun the next.

The
Moe Hansum Band

This 4-member band,
hailing from Houston, Texas, performs Americana
music with a strong emphasis on traditional acoustic
blues. Their Texas-bred music
|
|
|
blends folk blues with a splash
of the soul and rhythm of the Mississippi Delta blues.
In concert the band presents a variety of their original
tunes, complemented by little-known covers from artists
such as Bukka White, Robert Johnson and Jimmy Reed. The
Moe Hansum Band has been together in many incarnations
since the early 1990's.
The instrumentation currently consists of two acoustic
and resonator guitarists, Mike Durbin and Chuck
Schwarz, upright acoustic bassist Sandy Buller and
drummer Stephan B. Miller. They have performed at
the Kerrville Folk Festival and many other locations
across Texas. This band of exceptionally talented
musicians is always a JP Hops House favorite. Moe's
music can be healing and therapeutic for those longing
for an authentic voice in traditional and modern
folk blues.

songwriters from around the state of Texas grace
the JPHH stage on the second Friday of each month.
The featured artists for this evening's showcase
are Lawrence
J. Clark, and Mark
Beets with Saylor
White.
Lawrence J. Clark:
For over 20 years, Lawrence
J. Clark has delighted audiences all across the
United States, performing with folk/rock and blues
bands, and with his one-man show consisting of
music, poetry, storytelling, and dramatic performances.
A gifted and honored songwriter, his songs have

of Acoustic Musicians (HAAM). Lawrence has released
several solo CDs and two books.
Mark Beets:

Beets was a finalist in the Wildflower Festival
songwriting competition. Mark's song "The Road's
Not Long Enough" was selected as the lead single

first compilation CD.
Saylor White:

songs, poetry and short stories, Saylor has written
over two thousand songs in his better than thirty
years of word crafting, including "Dress
of Lace" recorded and performed by Nanci
Griffith and Lyle Lovett. Saylor is an amazing
and prolific songwriter with a musical sense that
comes as natural to him as breathing. He is co-owner

Willie B: Willie

he is so much more. He is a gifted and diverse
guitar player who writes and performs in many
musical genres. Willie writes and sings songs
around the people in his life. He has been a past
recipient of HFBSA's "Song of the Year"
and "Songwriter of the Year". Willie

Don't miss the
Stan and Paul "Houston Freezes Over"
show! Stan Hatch and Paul McCann were an acoustic
duo well known to JP Hops House patrons until
Paul moved to Colorado last year. Paul is back
in town for a visit, so the two of them are getting
back together for one performance only. We've
never been sure if their shows are musical comedy
or comedic music, but it's always entertaining.
Please join us for an evening of fun, friends,
and a soup-er good time.
