| Shake
Russell, whose songs have become themes for the
very State of Texas itself, and Dana Cooper, a singer- |
songwriter of great depth and diversity, will share
the JPHH stage this evening. The collaborations
between Shake and Dana has produced five highly
successful folk-rock albums. They became one of
the most successful acts throughout Texas and the
Southwest and have appeared together on Austin City
Limits. Tonight
promises to be pure magic!
SHAKE
RUSSELL
"Look up Texas Troubadour according to Webster
n. Shake Russell. Few have made contributions
to Texas music comparable to Shake. Winsome melodies,
heartfelt lyrics, and a truly Texas spirit are the
signature of Shakes unmatched style. Like
no one else, Shake Russell can capture the timeless
beauty of Texas with songs more vivid than a summer's
dream. Most of us cut our musical teeth in the early
70s with Shake Russell showing us what Texas
music could be. Like a fine wine, Shake has aged,
mellowed, and improved over the past three decades
culminating in his latest, and arguably greatest,
releases in the past few years. Shake's contribution
to the body of Texas music is undeniable yet proven
incomplete with each new song he offers." ~
Barney Goodman
DANA
COOPER
With the passion of a poet and the power of a rocker,
Dana Cooper has been thrilling listeners for over
two decades. His highly original lyrics, skillful
guitar work and evocative vocals have earned him
a devoted following with fans and critics alike.
Vic Garbarini, writer for Playboy and Guitar World,
described Cooper as "literally the best singer/songwriter
to emerge from Nashville in over a decade
His
heartfelt but sophisticated lyrics aim to reconcile
the heart and mind in everyday life. His sense of
melody is unique and he has a voice that could melt
icecaps."

Gary Seber
Born in the USA, Gary grew up in
London, England where he listened to the Beatles,
the Rolling Stones, the Who, etc. He started
playing ukulele
at age 10, soon followed by guitar.
After thirteen years in England and three years
in Singapore he moved back to the States. After
a long stretch of playing cover tunes a friend
showed him a video of guitarist Preston Reed;
it turned out to be a pivitol moment. Gary has
devoted much time to teaching himself an entirely
new way of playing the guitar, often
sounding like two guitars playing at once.
His CD Candle Power features original
acoustic guitar solos that showcase his interesting
technique. We are very proud of Gary to have
been chosen as one of the 2005 Kerrville New
Folk finalists.
Opening performers will be the always amusing
and entertaining Stan and Paul.

Happenstance
CD Release Party
Happenstance is a trio of acoustic
singer-songwriters who play original music,
sing great harmony, and challenge their audience
to have as much fun as they do. With a collective
experience of over 70 years of professional
entertainment, they draw from an extensive list
of original material as well as the occasional
unexpected cover song. Happenstance always gets
the audience involved in the show and makes
sure everyone leaves with a smile on their face
and a song in their heart.

' Electrifying
Acousticana' is the term that they use when people
say "What kind of music do you play?"
Not always knowing what to tell them, 'electrifying
acousticana' is as close as they've been able
to come. Drawing upon acoustic music and Americana
primarily, they play a melting pot of musical
genres, styles, and influences.
DOUG
COPPOCK
Doug Coppock has lived and performed in the Central
Arkansas area since 1989, after moving from Houston.
As a solo acoustic performer Doug has played at
many of the Arkansas folk venues, private parties
and house concerts. He was selected as a New Folk
Finalist (Kerrville Folk Festivals Songwriting
Competition) in 1985, 1987, and 1988, sharing
the stage with the likes of Buddy Mondlock, Pierce
Pettis, and others. He has attended song-writing
school and has studied with Rick Beresford, Allen
Shamblin, Gail Davies and others. Doug has been
a good friend of ours since he first discovered
Kerrville in the mid-eighties.
DAN
CLANTON
Dan has performed at folk festivals and VFW clubs,
bars and restaurants, in ballrooms and on street
corners from Boston to Seattle, and points in
between. He has studied songwriting with the likes
of folk legends Peter Yarrow, Steve Gillette,
and Tom Paxton, and won awards for his own songwriting.
He has shared stages with such well-known artists
as Ray Wiley Hubbard, Allen Damron, Crow Johnson,
and many others.
Dan has hosted several weekly Singer-Songwriter
Showcases and Open Mics in the Central Arkansas
area.
BROOKS
WALTHALL
While living in Kentucky, Brooks formed his first
band, a bluegrass group called The Dangling Participles.
Playing in virtually every club in the southern
Kentucky area, the Participles mixed traditional
bluegrass instrumentation and attitude with contemporary
and classic rock to form an early version of jam-grass.
He went on to play as a solo acoustic performer,
then in an acoustic duo and later in a touring
band that opened a national tour for Pauley Shore.
Brooks started his own recording studio and record
label, Lo-Fi Recording, recording most of the
popular acoustic music performers in Central Arkansas.
This
group is enjoying remarkable success and has just
released a self-titled CD that contains songs
from all three band members. JP
Hops House is proud to present Happenstance
on the first stop of their Texas Gulf Coast Mini-Tour.
