May 8, 2004 - Saturday
Opie Hendrix & the Texas Tallboys
Awarded as Best Roots Rock/Rockabilly band at the 2003 Houston Press Music Awards, Opie's musical well runs too deep for him to be easily pigeonholed. Renowned throughout the Lone Star State as an electrical live performer, Opie has built a solid repertoire, and a reputation for his unique songwriting with genuine passion for his craft.
"One source described his music as 'Willie Nelson meets Elvis Costello;' pretty accurate, but even that can't sum up the wealth of talent in this tunester. Opie's song writing takes tradition and distorts it into innovation." ~ houstonheadline.com
David Brake will be kicking off the entertainment tonight.

Greg Wappler & Jeramiah Marichular

Working in the oilfield for many years, Greg traveled all over Texas and Louisiana. It was these roads and relationships along the way that inspired many of his songs. In the mid-eighties Greg formed The Trust, who performed for ten years, opening for artists such as Ian Moore and Kenny Wayne Shepherd.
More recently Greg performed in College Station with Texas artists

such as Shake Russell, Davin James, Steve Fromholz, Ruthie Foster, Terri Hendrix, Loyd Maines and Hays Carll. A movie company has expressed interest in one of Greg’s songs for a film to be released in 2004.
Wappler says “I wrote All The Young Ones when my first son was born. I was watching a show on child abuse and it made me sick. I couldn’t understand how anyone could do that. All The Young Ones is from the childs perspective and it really makes you think.”
His newest single Mama Cried is climbing the charts on Texas Top 40. Greg Wappler is sure to be a force in Texas music for many years to come.
