Opie Hendrix & the Texas Tallboys
Awarded as Best Roots Rock/Rockabilly band at the 2003 Houston Press Music Awards, Opie's musical well runs too deep for him to be easily pigeonholed. Renowned throughout the Lone Star State as an electrical live performer, Opie has built a solid repertoire, and a reputation for his unique songwriting with genuine passion for his craft.
"One source described his music as 'Willie Nelson meets Elvis Costello;' pretty accurate, but even that can't sum up the wealth of talent in this tunester. Opie's song writing takes tradition and distorts it into innovation." ~ houstonheadline.com

Kelly McGuire & Tropical Daycare

*** LIVE CD Recording Tonight! ***
What a special treat we have in store tonight! JP Hops House is tickled 'flamingo' pink to be hosting the recording session for Kelly McGuire's new 'Live' CD. A long time resident of the Clear Lake, TX (Houston/NASA) area, Kelly is known for his original ‘Gulf Coast flavored’ songs ranging from country to calypso/tropical, folk and rock; many inspired by his sailing experiences in the Bahamas, Florida Keys, Mexico and on the Texas Gulf coast. When Kelly and Tropical Daycare Trio made their JPHH debut in January they were enthusiastically received ... it was a really wonderful, upbeat and lively evening of music.

Matt Davis & Cody Foote
Recently of the band Broken Strings and a newcomer to JPHH, singer/songwriter Matt Davis graces our stage this evening. The youthful performer, native of Tomball, made his big move to Kansas City and returned to Texas before 'he realized that writing songs and music was a part of who he was.'
"Once I started writing a lot, I realized that it became the way I express my feelings and emotions. If I ever had to stop, I think I would probably explode in some way or another." ~ Matt
Sharing the stage with Matt tonight is Cody Foote, another talented newcomer we welcome to our house.
