Steve
Hahn
Proficient
in classical, jazz, rock, and fusion styles, Steve
Hahn excels
on four instruments -- trumpet,
bass, guitar and
a
relatively new instrument
called the Chapman Stick®.
 |
| |
"Steve
Hahn . . . is one of the most amazing
musicians in the area. He plays a unique
instrument called The Chapman Stick. .
. . While playing bass with one hand and
guitar with the other, he blows into a
trumpet mounted on a microphone stand
while controlling the valves on the trumpet
with his feet. It's absolutely astounding,
something that you must see to believe!"
~
Paul Caruso, Entertainment
Scene Denver, Colorado 12/1995

He
has performed in such famous venues as Carnegie
Hall in New York City; London,
England's Royal
Albert Hall; and the John F. Kennedy Center for
the Performing Arts, the White House, and Constitution
Hall, all in Washington, D.C., among many others.
Come join us in welcoming Steve to JPHH; we are
thrilled to be presenting an artist of such renown
on our humble
stage.
Tonight's
opening set to
be performed by
fellow Chapman Stick player, Jim
Kam.

Texas Songwriter Showcase
Some of the best singer songwriters from around
the state of Texas grace the JPHH stage on the
second Friday of each month.
January's showcase will feature Gary
Seber and Tom Tranchilla.
Gary
Seber: When you first hear Gary play, you
may find it impossible to believe that you're
hearing just one musician! He has studied the
innovative style of Preston Reed with it's percussive,
two-handed fretboard attack. Gary has composed
original material and has completed his first
CD.
Tom
Tranchilla: Tom has been writing and performing
acoustic music for over 30 years. He performs
a variety of styles including folk, ragtime, and
blues. His guitar work will astound you as he
is a "finger-picking fool". Tom already
has one CD under his belt and will soon release
his second CD showcasing his talents.
Michael
Pope: Co-founder and co-host of this showcase,
Michael has been writing songs for a couple years
now. Many of his original's are open tuned, 5
finger picking, folk jazz instrumentals, but his
lyrics are strong and reflect his life's experiences.
Michael is currently recording his debut album.
Willie
B: Willie describes himself as a bluesy guitar
player, but he is so much more. He is a gifted
and diverse guitar player who writes and performs
in many musical genres. Willie writes and sings
songs around the people in his life. He has won
"Song of the Year" and "Songwriter
of the Year" in HFBSA. Willie has recorded
four albums to date.
The
stage will be filled with vast musical experience
and the show will be an exhilarating musical phenomenon!
If you don't play guitar, this show just might
inspire you to pick one up and start learning.

The Dealers' music is always fun
its musical personality ranges from heart-felt
acoustic ballads to groove-based electric rock,
with an occasional improv jam. One
thing is certain the Dealers live show
is a must-see. Come

welcome; show 'em Houston's love for live music.
