Cask-Conditioned Enlightenment
A cask-conditioned beer, often referred to as 'real ale'
is brewed from only traditional ingredients and allowed
to mature naturally. The unfiltered, unpasteurised beer
still contains live yeast, which continues conditioning
the beer in the cask. This process creates a gentle, natural
CO2 carbonation and allows malt and hop flavors to develop,
resulting in a richer tasting beer with more character
than standard keg beer. 'Real ale' is always served without
any extraneous gas. This is the traditional way of brewing
and serving beer; only a few decades ago did filtered,
pasteurized, chilled beer served by gas become normal.

Butch
Morgan &
Dirk
Hamilton
Butch Morgan: Never
let it be said that Claude "Butch" Morgan
isn't passionate about life. His songs are often
spiritual in nature, but they're full of fun and
carry simple but powerful messages.
Butch Morgan has an ability
to take life's simplicity and put a striking message
inside in the form of a song, a great example
being his "God Drives A Pick-up Truck".
Morgan's "Blubberball" attests to all
that can go wrong when you don't take care of
yourself, and is a song performed entirely with
one chord. As Butch says, "It starts off
in G, then goes to G for the solos, then we wrap
it up in G."
Don't miss this show ...
a wonderful character with a humorous rapport
onstage. You'll laugh for sure!
Dirk Hamilton: A
poet and musician known for his uniquely intelligent
lyrics and passionate performance style, Hamilton
creates music that can't be pigeon-holed into
one genre or another, so indie rock, alt-rock,
roots music, americana and folk-rock are often
used. For his lyrics and performance style he
is most often compared to Dylan, Van Morrison,
and John Hiatt.
Dirk Hamilton is a prolific
artist who has released a total of 16 albums under
various labels, including his own, Acoustic Rock
Records. Over the past two decades Dirk has returned
to Italy annually to tour as Dirk Hamilton and
the Bluesmen, an American/Italian 'cross borders'
project, or with his American rock ensemble, The
Dirk Hamilton Band.
In
more intimate settings the wit and humanity of
his music shines through in a way that only solo
performances can provide.
Willie
B will be performing the opening set for the
show this evening.

Matt
Harlan is a songwriter's songwriter,
composing scenic landscapes and pointed statements
disguised as songs ... often non-linear, but
always melodic. Harlan's works confront social
norms, celebrate lives overlooked, or just wax
poetic about coffee and bus-stops. Whatever
the inspiration, the music is always heartfelt

The
Moe Hansum Band

This 4-member band,
hailing from Houston, Texas, performs Americana
music with a strong emphasis on traditional acoustic
blues. Their Texas-bred music
|
|
|
blends folk blues with a splash
of the soul and rhythm of the Mississippi Delta blues.
In concert the band presents a variety of their original
tunes, complemented by little-known covers from artists
such as Bukka White, Robert Johnson and Jimmy Reed. The
Moe Hansum Band has been together in many incarnations
since the early 1990's.
The instrumentation currently consists of two acoustic
and resonator guitarists, Mike Durbin and Chuck
Schwarz, upright acoustic bassist Sandy Buller and
drummer Stephan B. Miller. They have performed at
the Kerrville Folk Festival and many other locations
across Texas. This band of exceptionally talented
musicians is always a JP Hops House favorite. Moe's
music can be healing and therapeutic for those longing
for an authentic voice in traditional and modern
folk blues.
