Credit goes to Peter Kilty for sparking the idea for this trendy fun food event! Thanks Peter! In a recent issue of a beer magazine there was an article on the growing trend of beer and cheese tastings. But we already knew how good this marriage of cheese and beer were - we have been doing this event for over 4 years.

Texas Songwriter Showcase
Some of the best singer songwriters from around the state of Texas grace the JPHH stage on the second Friday of each month. The featured artist for this evening's showcase is Josal.
Josal: a talented and versatile guitar player and vocalist who plays a variety of classic rock, blues, folk, and original music. He has been widely known for his exceptional open mics in Houston Texas. Now residing in Temple Texas he plays at the local clubs when he's not fishing or hanging out in his rocking chair.
Willie B: Willie describes himself as a bluesy guitar player, but he is so much more. He is a gifted and diverse guitar player who writes and performs in many musical genres. Willie writes and sings songs around the people in his life. He has been a past recipient of HFBSA's "Song of the Year" and "Songwriter of the Year". Willie has recorded four albums to date and is currently working on his fifth solo project.
The Texas Songwriters' Showcase is the longest running showcase in Houston. These songwriters will take to the stage to entertain you with colossal musical talent and wide-ranging experience ... you will not be disappointed.

This recently formed Houston-area guitar duo, is tonight's musical entertainment. Wally Brannon and Joel Marlowe originally came together in 1983 and over the past 25 years have shared many a stage as band members or duo partners. The name Blind Justice was taken from the name of a song Wally wrote when he was in prison ... well, not really, but you'll have to come hear them to get the true story behind the song.

Kerrville Partners
2009 JUNO Nominees, Twilight Hotel, is the musical partnership of Brandy Zdan & Dave Quanbury. Together they

they possess an elusive chemistry and a musical flavor that has been hard to define by their fans. "Sublime harmonies, stellar songwriting and dark, vintage vibes" as described by Performing Songwriter Magazine. Zdan on a '62 Harmony Rocket, '57 Silvertone Lap Steel and Honer Accordion, and Quanbury on the upside down 30's Parlour guitar, homemade stomp box along with a 40's Stratoliner Vintage Microphone. They can be seen accompanied by a rotating door of 'junkyard' percussionists adding to their characteristic dark twang and noir cabaret.

Hailing from the fertile music scene of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, Zdan & Quanbury met in 2002 at a folk festival and realized the power of combining their talents. They have recently re-located to the music hot-spot of Austin, TX but will remain true to their Canadian roots.

In 2008, they released their sophomore album Highway Prayer, produced by Colin Linden. Recorded in Nashville, TN, Highway Prayer features prolific guest musicians including the late Richard Bell (Janis Joplin, The Band), Stephen Hodges (Tom Waits), and Dave Roe (Johnny Cash). The 12 original songs run the gamut from the opening rockabilly jump manifesto, Viva la Vinyl, the street busker feel of Shadow of a Man, to the heartbreaking confessional closer Sand in you Eyes. Highway Prayer has received critical praise both nationally & internationally including a debut at #2 on the Euro Americana Chart , a Western Canadian Music Award for Outstanding Roots Album Duo/Group, a 2009JUNO nomination for "Roots & Traditional Album of the Year", and included as one of '9 to watch for '09' by Performing Songwriter Magazine.

EARTH DAY 2010

Hank Woji
Sing Out! Magazine has recently called Hank "an astute writer and an engaging singer" and since 2002 his compositions have garnered him honors in numerous national songwriting competitions including: The South Florida Folk Festival, The Kerrville Folk Festival, The Woody Guthrie Folk Festival, The Dallas Songwriters Association and the Austin Songwriters Group. He has been nominated for the 2006 Producer of the Year & 2009 Singer/Songwriter of the Year awards by the Academy of Texas Music.
AmericanaUK called Hank's latest CD, American Dreams, "acoustic-wielding, sharply observed, Americana all the way"; MyTexasMusic.com, "you'll find the timelessness in his songs, each transcending current events and eventually becoming an anthem of life"; and Moors Magazine (Netherlands) described him as being "in the tradition of Woody Guthrie, Pete Seeger and Bruce Springsteen, but certainly with his own voice and with powerful songs.
Most recently, Hank has shared the stage with Shake Russell, Dana Cooper, Darden Smith, Jonathan Byrd, Sara Hickman, Ken Gaines, Amy Speace, Jimmy LaFavre, Bob Livingston, Gary P. Nunn, Saylor White, Jesse Dayton, Connie Mims, David Massengill, Ray Bonneville, Danny Everitt, and Michael Martin Murphey.
